Idiyappam is a very popular South Indian / Srilankan Tiffen Item, usually taken for Breakfast or Dinner. Idiyappams are fresher version of the Cooked Rice sticks. They are steam cooked and hence very healthy and light on your stomach.

Rice undergoes careful processing for making the Idiyappam flour. Here are the steps to make Idiyappam with our flour: 

  • For every one cup of flour boil 3/4 cup of water.
  • Add salt and boiling to the flour and mix well with a wooden spatula.
  • After a few minutes close the lid and let it cool down a bit.
  • When it is still warm, add a tb.sp of oil and knead to a soft dough.
  • Put a medium sized dough in the press and press out the idiyappams, directly in a steaming plate.
  • Steam till done and serve hot with chutney, Sambar, Kurma, Idly Podi.
